Pick up and drop off
- Our bus picks students up and drops them home directly from their residential address at a scheduled time, as advised by the school office. The staff take great care to ensure that the buses travel with the best possible route between home and school.
Chaperones
- On every bus, there's an English-speaking chaperone whose primary duty is to look after the children.
- The chaperones are trained in child protection, first aid, and emergency procedures. The chaperones stay with the children at all times.
Discipline on the bus
- Students must remain seated and wear their seat belts at all times. The bus will not move if any student is not wearing their seat belt.
- Students must listen to the directions of the bus monitor at all times. They must not disturb the driver or other students.
- In any cases of disciplinary issues, our school leadership will be asked to assist. We will inform parents, and you may be asked to come to the school to discuss the matter. In an extreme case where the student fails to be cooperative, we may withdraw their privilege to use the bus service for a specified period.
Communications with our school office
- Before the start of the new term, our office will inform parents of the driving route and pick-up times for the students. During the term, we'll let you know about any changes over the phone. If the bus is significantly delayed, we'll also let you know and update you about the expected arrival time.
- If there's a change to the child’s travelling arrangement, parents must inform our office and your child's Class Teacher in writing (email or note), giving at least a day’s notice to avoid delays.
- Please do not give verbal messages through the chaperones to avoid misunderstanding or a breakdown in communication.
- Students or domestic helpers are not allowed to contact our office to change their schedule.
The fleet
- All the buses are air-conditioned with radio and have phone links to our school office. The buses undergo monthly servicing and inspections. All safety equipment – including a first-aid kit, fire extinguisher, and seat belts – are regularly checked.
- All the buses are equipped with a GPRS unit that allows us to track their position at 30-second intervals. We also monitor whether the engine is on or off, whether the doors are open or closed, and the travel speed and direction.
- If a bus has any trouble, the nearest available bus will be sent to assist or Blue Bird/Silver Bird taxi will be sent there.
Bus riders
Bus riders should be on their best behaviour on the bus. Parents are required agree that their child will follow these expectations:
- to be courteous to the bus chaperone and driver and to follow their instructions
- to always wear adjusted seat-belts while on the bus
- be always on time
- to remain seated when the bus is moving
- to not eat or drink while the bus is moving
