Lunar New Year Celebration

Finishing last week with the celebrations for the Lunar New Year really created a great atmosphere right across the school. The Lion Dancers in the Primary School showed off their skills to a captivated audience of students. The Year 6 Quad proved to be an ideal performance space with everyone watching either from the ground or second floor balcony.

The Lion Dancer troupe then went and spent some time in Foundation Stage where children were able to see the intricate costumes up close and understand how the dancers performed their elaborate dances.

This coming week, 60% of the High School students will go on their residential trips at venues two or three hours from Bangkok. These are great opportunities for students to get to know one another and their teachers, as well as have a great learning experience away from home. I know that everyone will have a really great time.

Meanwhile, our two senior examination years, Year 11 and Year 13, will be staying at school to take their mock GCSE/IGCSEs examinations, International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme mock examinations, and the completion of BTEC project work for Year 13. Although this will be a busy week for these students, it is great preparation for when they will be taking their real final external examinations in Term 3. Their results on these mock exams and project work will give both students and their teachers some excellent feedback on where they need to focus over the remaining weeks before their final exams and deadlines.

Early IGCSE Maths Results

A huge congratulations to the 28 Year 11 students who took their IGCSE Maths Examinations early. They all received at least the top grade of A, with 83% earning an A*. Congratulations also must go to the whole Mathematics team of teachers who have been working with these gifted young mathematicians.

VEX competition

The High School campus was the place to be this past Saturday as we hosted the VEX VIQC Robotics Thai Nationals for elementary and middle school teams. There were over 40 teams competing from 16 different international schools around Thailand. Everyone was very focused on understanding the rules of the competition and then applying their skills to the robots they had designed and built. These robots were then measured and checked to ensure that there were no undue advantages to any one team, so that only the skill of the operators and their programmes were the deciding factors in all the different challenges they had to overcome. There was certainly a very impressive number of robots created by all the teams and their coaches.

It was also great to see so many parents come along to enjoy the competition and see exactly what their young people were involved in. Seven lucky teams will be awarded places to compete at VEX Worlds in the USA, which will be attended by 20,000 participants from 66 countries around the world. A huge congratulations to Nana, Grace and Keane for winning the Judges Award, as well as Ari, Krit, Justin and Panther for winning the Inspire Award.

Parent Satisfaction Survey

Our school has now received the link to the Nord Anglia Education Parents Satisfaction Survey. This survey seeks your feedback on all the key areas of our school including the learning environment and teaching we provide, the way in which we support your child’s social development, our range of facilities, and the way in which we communicate with our families.

We would very much like everyone to complete this survey as your feedback helps us to provide the best possible experiences for your child.

Please note that you will need to complete the 10-minute survey in one sitting. The survey is designed to capture feedback on a per family basis, but if both parents wish to take the survey, this is also fine.

The views of all of our parents will be confidential and will help to inform our strategies for continued improvement. The closing date is Sunday 19th March 2023.

Thank you in advance for your participation, and we look forward to hearing your views.

Primary School Development

The new soccer field has had the boundary fence installed and the connecting road to Sukhumvit 71 is nearly complete. The drainage has all been put in and the field area has been compacted as we wait for the artificial grass to arrive. There is now a sign showing everyone where the new football field will be located. It truly will be a fantastic facility once we have finished it in two to three weeks.

As the water in the waterways matures and settles, more indigenous fish have been introduced over the weekend, along with indigenous underwater weeds to provide more oxygenation. The specialist plant experts with whom we are consulting are in the process of formulating the waterscaping plan, which should also be ready over the next couple of weeks. Hopefully, this will enable it to be installed and planted up through the half term break.
