ClassDojo parent workshop

ClassDojo parent workshop Since joining our school in August 2021, I have seen so many things that BCB does exceptionally well. Our teaching and learning are the most developed I have seen, when compared to other international schools that I have visited. Our implementation of the International Primary Curriculum ensures that our approach to education is linked to relevant research for successful, meaningful outcomes. Our sense of community makes BCB such a special place to work every day. Our Maths and English curriculums have been developed to ensure all our students can make outstanding progress throughout their Primary years.

Since joining our school in August 2021, I have seen so many things that BCB does exceptionally well.

Whilst working in Year 4 last year, and having the opportunity to see these amazing parts of our school in action, I noticed one issue with them all – we had no way of sharing what we were doing with you at home! As a leadership team, we discussed this problem at length and we are confident that we’ve found the perfect solution: Enter, ClassDojo!

ClassDojo is a school communication platform that creates a window into our classrooms. Whether used via the app or through the website, ClassDojo has a range of features that teachers, students and parents can use to share and celebrate achievements in school.

School and Class Stories:

BCB has its own School Story. This is a page that allows whole school messages to be shared with our community. Whether this is weekly notices, home learning challenges or calendar events, everyone can find these important pieces of information in one place.

Each class in our Primary school also has their own Class Story. On these stories, teachers can share posts for parents to view at home. So far, I have seen posts from Year 1 and Year 2 who have been dissecting human brains; posts from Year 3 and 4 about interviewing parents to find out how they learn best; and posts from Year 5 and Year 6 showing pupils visiting younger students and teaching them a new skill.

Once these posts are added to the School and Class Stories, parents and students can instantly see these at home. This supports the continuation of their learning journey beyond the school gates, as the students can use the posts as a stimulus to explain their experiences to their parents. Just like social media, parents and students can like and comment on specific posts - something teachers love to see!

With the introduction of ClassDojo, we hope that our parent community will feel like they have a greater understanding of the amazing learning and experiences taking place here at BCB. We also hope that students will take pride in their work and enjoy sharing tales of their learning at home. Keep an eye on our School Story, and your child’s Class Story, for more cool posts in the future!
