Ms. Potter has been working with children for more than 20 years and is passionate about sharing her love of reading and writing. She earned her MA in Education from Concordia University, Portland, Oregon USA and a BA in Sociology from University of Oregon. Her journey into teaching started with becoming an adult learner of a second language. She then volunteered at local organizations as an advocate for Hispanic families, including programs in elementary schools that offered literacy support. After university for teacher certification, Ms. Potter held a variety of positions within multiple schools and local districts before embarking on an adventure to teach abroad. She has taught in Shanghai, S. Korea, and Costa Rica over the past decade, acquiring training, experience, and expertise in EAL support, curriculum mapping, backward design, positive mindset, SRL (student regulated learning), PBS (positive behavior systems), PBL (project-based learning), and inter-disciplinary integration.
Ms. Potter’s hobbies include collecting rocks, hiking, watching documentaries, traveling, and making yarn crafts. Her personal goals and dreams currently include completing the pilgrimage trail of El Camino de Santiago, visiting her grandparents’ homeland of Sicily, and self-publishing her own book of essays and short stories.
