At Collège Champittet, we offer a one-of-a-kind primary school education in Switzerland. Learning here, your child will follow a combination of Swiss, French, and British curricula, which has been specifically designed by Champittet teachers for our students.
Our curriculum provides an outstanding academic grounding, as well as offering diverse learning experiences that challenge, engage, and inspire. In primary school, our children study maths, science, history, literature, languages, music, arts and crafts, and PE. We instil strong values, too, ensuring every child is supported to grow personally, socially, and emotionally.
We proudly welcome primary school children from Switzerland and all over the world, and our highly skilled teachers are adept at making sure everyone feels at home. By keeping our class sizes small, each student receives exceptional personalised attention and support.
French is our primary language of instruction, and we develop our students’ reading, writing, and maths skills through fun and engaging activities. At the same time, our children immerse themselves in English projects and coursework. They also enjoy an early introduction to German through workshops and games, with formal language lessons starting at seven years old.
At our Forest School – which we offer on both our Pully and Nyon campuses – your child will spend several hours each week learning in the great outdoors.
Our primary students take part in activities – from identifying plants and bugs to writing poems about their surroundings – that add a fun, real-world element to learning. Getting out in the fresh air inspires our children to exercise, explore, invent, initiate, and dream, as well as to concentrate, observe, marvel, listen, and work. Our Forest School also instils a love of new discoveries and an appreciation for the natural world.
While French is our first teaching language, all our primary students follow a bilingual programme. This helps them to become fluent dual-language communicators.
At the beginning of primary school, 70% of our classes are taught in French, and 30% are taught in English. The amount of class time in English increases to 40% by the age of 11.
Students who aren’t fluent in French follow our French as a Foreign Language programme from Grade 3, which builds their skills ahead of secondary. We also offer English as an Additional Language support, also from Grade 3.
A plethora of outstanding experiences bring our primary school students’ education to life. These include one-of-a-kind opportunities through Nord Anglia Education, such as the Juilliard Performing Arts programme, our STEAM collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and service, outreach, and environmental projects with UNICEF.
Inspired by our world-class teachers and engaged in the very best international curricula, your child will enjoy an outstanding global education that’s steeped in Swiss traditions, heritage, and standards.
