Biography
Emma started her teaching career in 2004 working in a school in Bradford. Her first post was in a large inner city primary school where she led on a community cohesion project. After four years she was appointed by Education Bradford to lead the project for schools in the Bradford Local Authority. The project’s success took the project nationally and Emma worked with a number of Local Authorities to get similar projects up and running with their schools. After this, she took up her first international school post in Bangkok in a school inspired by the principles and practices of Reggio Emilia. During her time in Bangkok, Emma worked in Early Years and lower primary, working with the teams to develop a project based approach to learning.
Emma joined BISB as a Teacher in Early Years in 2013. She has taken full advantage of the opportunities offered through Nord Anglia University and completed the three term Middle Leadership Programme in 2015. Since then, Emma has taken on the role of Leader for Learning in the Early Years Centre.
Emma is committed to leading the team on delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework, taking guidance from the principles and practices of Reggio Emilia. She views children as being unique, resilient, confident and capable. She works with the team to ensure this image of children is reflected in the way the Early Years environment it set up in a playful way to facilitate developing independence, along with academic skills. She is ambitious for the students in her classes, believing that through a positive Early Years experience, the children will enter primary school with strong foundations and a love for learning.
In her spare time, Emma enjoys running in the parks of Budapest and rock climbing. She enjoys living in a city where there is always food, art and music events taking place. At home, Emma enjoys cooking and trying out new recipes.
