Every day at ISM is packed with incredible learning opportunities. Through immersive experiences outside of the classroom, your child will grow in confidence, push themselves out of their comfort zone, and develop a whole host of transferable skills.

Our students take part in residential trips across Russia, enriching after-school activities, awe-inspiring STEAM and global outreach projects through our exclusive collaborations with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and UNICEF, and The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award.

Our creative clubs – which span the arts, music, and STEAM – cultivate our students’ curiosity, challenge them to solve problems, and enable them to flourish artistically.
Creativity

At ISM, your child will choose from a range of activities that spark their passions and unearth new interests.

Our Instrumental Music Programme caters to every student’s musical aspirations. Your child will learn from the very best, enjoying group sessions and one-to-one lessons in a range of instruments, including the violin, saxophone, piano, and ukulele.

Students who excel can join our school orchestra and ensembles, who perform at prestigious locations throughout the year, including the Moscow International House of Music and The British Ambassador’s Residence.

Our STEAM collaboration with MIT is packed with high quality learning experiences, too. On our Rosinka Campus, Primary students receive an early introduction to computer coding, as they learn how to debug problems and write algorithms. They can also construct, create, and work as a team at our fun Lego challenge club.

Innovation flourishes at Secondary, where our students write and build their own video games. They also harness the power of technology to create fantastic 3D models, including replica buildings and plant cells. We offer creative arts and crafts, sketching and drawing, knitting, and cookery clubs, too.

Sports
Our team and individual sports give every student the chance to get moving, boost their fitness, and compete against friends and other schools.
Sports

We encourage every child to find a sporting activity they enjoy. We also nurture healthy habits from an early age and emphasise the importance of sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect.

From dodgeball to frisbee, our fun multi-sports clubs encourage our youngest students to try something new every week. On our Rosinka Campus, our children take to the ice at our skating club, enjoy kayaking on our lake, and peddle through the forest on mountain bikes.

At Secondary, we offer a choice of traditional team and individual sports, from table tennis, badminton, and squash to volleyball, basketball, and football. Your child can get fit at our running and exercise club or dance their socks off at our Zumba class, too.

Fun and literature
As well as nurturing our students’ love of literature and storytelling, we offer a variety of fun after-school activities that ignite imaginations.

There really is an enrichment activity for everyone at ISM. This includes a selection of fun clubs that enable our students to pursue select passions.

At our Minecraft club, students build battles and compete in e-Sports challenges. Your child can bring in their own board game or play an old favourite at our games galore club. And at our movie group, students who are fanatical about film can discuss the latest and classic releases, led by one of our sixth formers.

We also run activities that nurture our students’ love of reading and writing. Our book club is a chance to read with friends or individually, while our creative writing class gives students the opportunity to experiment and learn new techniques, resulting in pieces that are published in a termly anthology. Our school newspaper brings budding photographers, writers, editors, and illustrators together.

We offer academic support outside of lessons, as well as opportunities for our students to learn and showcase their leadership skills.

Academic learning extends beyond lessons, ensuring your child has the time, support, and attention they need to succeed.

Our study support group and homework club are calm working environments where our older children learn to organise their time and focus on self-study. We also offer an art and media group that helps IGCSE and A-level students with their coursework, plus a Sixth Form maths support club.

Our debate club encourages our students to communicate confidently and appreciate different perspectives, as they tackle topics ranging from whether students should be allowed to dye their hair to the abolition of corporation tax. And on our Student Councils and Eco Committee, children in each year group shape our school culture, implement practical change, and support good causes.

The world’s leading youth achievement programme will give your child the chance to make a real contribution to the community.

We encourage our older students to take part in The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award. Through the Award, your child will set their own goals and challenges, choose to do activities they know and enjoy, or try something different. They’ll also get involved in community service projects that make a big difference.

As they progress through each stage of the Award, students develop resilience, learn more about themselves, and grow in confidence. This complements their learning inside the classroom, combining real experiences with the softer skills that create well-rounded global citizens.

EXTRAORDINARY TRIPS AND EXPERIENCES

On day and overnight trips across Russia, our students learn about the world around them and develop vital personal, social, and emotional skills.

Residential trips
Immersive overnight trips away from school will add an exciting dimension to your child’s education. 
Residential trips

From Year 4 onwards, your child will take part in an annual residential trip. For many, these expeditions are the highlight of their school year.

Varying between three nights and a week in length, our immersive Primary trips to exciting locations close to Moscow promote independence, leadership, and teamwork, as well as helping our students to mature and become more confident.

At Secondary, our students enjoy week-long residentials to destinations across Russia. On each expedition, students challenge themselves in different ways. This might include learning survival skills and camping in the forest, or white-water rafting, abseiling, and rock climbing.

On each trip, your child will be supported by experts, who will encourage them to push themselves out of their comfort zone and take age-appropriate risks.

Primary excursions
Our youngest students love exploring the natural settings that surround our campuses, as well as taking day trips into Moscow.
Primary excursions

Day trips in and around our colourful city add an extra dimension to our students’ education. Linked to the topics and subjects they’re studying, each excursion enhances how and what our younger students learn.

Trips include the Experimentanium Science Museum, where STEAM is taught through interactive activities and games. This includes learning about the science behind tsunami formation and the principles of electricity.

Our students also enjoy active and adventurous days out throughout the year, including to an indoor high ropes park and trampolining centre.

Our older students delve deeper into their specialist subjects and interests, as they enjoy day trips that bring learning to life.
Secondary excursions

Our Secondary students enjoy sport, science, music, and cultural trips in Moscow. Each activity is packed with hands-on experiences that enhance their understanding of key themes and subjects.

These include visits to The Tretyakov Gallery, the national treasury of Russian fine art, and the Moscow Planetarium, the largest in Europe and packed with interactive experiences.

We know that healthy, happy students flourish, which is why your child’s wellbeing is our priority. Our expert pastoral care team, which includes a psychologist, counsellor, and safeguarding team, will make sure they are supported in everything they do. In a recent survey, 95% of our parents said their child felt safe and looked after at school.

Our commitment to personal, social and health education (PSHE) fosters the knowledge and attributes our students need to thrive as individuals, family members, and part of society. And on our Global Campus platform, your child will access a wealth of specialist wellbeing resources.

In our supportive community, our students engage with local and global issues, take action that makes a real difference, and assume leadership responsibilities in school.

Globally, our students drive change through our collaboration with UNICEF. Your child will learn about pressing international issues – like the UN Global Goals and Rights of the Child – and research, debate, and present solutions at our Model United Nations club.

Our primary and secondary Student Councils – supported by our House captains, Head Boy and Girl, and Eco Committee – lead the way in school. Demonstrating determination, courage, and perseverance, they represent their peers with pride and choose important causes and issues to campaign on.

OUR FOREST SCHOOL

EXTRAORDINARY OUTDOOR LEARNING EXPERIENCES

Our Forest School immerses our youngest students in the wonders of nature, giving them the chance to play, imagine, build, and make exciting discoveries outdoors. Based on our Rosinka Campus, your child will learn in new ways, growing in confidence, developing lifelong skills, and gaining an appreciation of the natural world.
