At The British College of Brazil, we teach all academic subjects in English.
All students also learn Portuguese two to three times per week. We place students into groups based on their level of proficiency.
Students additionally learn Spanish from Year 7 onwards. We also group students by ability.
Learning approach
We complement our language lessons with a rich programme of activities that enrich students' reading and writing skills, vocabulary, and language use. Students go on educational trips and participate in whole-school events that take place throughout the school year.
We stimulate them with creative tasks that build their language abilities, encouraging them to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Students take ownership of their learning, and this approach enhances not only their language use, but also their awareness of cultures.
