Music education plays an important part in fostering self-confidence, creativity, and social skills in young people.
BCB includes music as a compulsory part of the curriculum from the beginning of school in the Pre-nursery right up until the end of year 9, when those students that have a particular passion for music can choose to continue to study up to IGCSE and then IBDP music.
In addition to the curriculum music lessons, students have a wealth of extracurricular opportunities to participate in, such as concert band, choir, musical theatre club, rock band to name a few. The music department also offers trips and opportunities for students to further their musical skills by experiencing music making at a higher level.
In March, six of our young musicians traveled to Miami to participate in the Nord Anglia music festival. They had a week of workshops, rehearsals and (in some cases) one-on-one lessons. The festival finished with an exciting concert in the new world symphony in which all the festival participants performed.
