The STEAM week was great success and all of the children were active and engaged. The event demonstrated the creativity and talents of our children at the school.
As BCB begins to fully integrate itself into the Nord Anglia way of life we are participating more and more in the exciting partnerships offered by the organization. One such association is that with MIT in Boston. This year we participated in their Curiosity Challenge which involved BCB the chance to prepare in-school STEAM events. In line with the curiosity challenge, the theme this year was Superhero science. The event allowed us to build towards next academic year when we will be fully participating and some students will have the chance to go to America to learn and compete in the MIT Challenge 2019-20.
STEAM is our new approach to making sure that Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths are all integrated within the curriculum and took the place This takes the place of the Science fair from previous years. During the week the children worked on activities in order to solve a problem, which was given to them at the beginning of the week. Challenges for the week included:
Design a superhero power based on an animal adaptation
Medical marvel – how can engineering help our health?
Create/design a wearable technology for a superhero.
The culmination of this was an expo at the end of the week.
