MIT Challenge - Living in Space (Term 1) During this term, our secondary students have been invited to take part in the first STEAM challenge of this academic year. The challenge for this term is called "Into the void - Living in Space" - our students had the opportunity to interact with MIT experts who work at the International Space Station.

During this term, our secondary students have been invited to take part in the first STEAM challenge of this academic year. The challenge for this term is called "Into the void - Living in Space" - our students had the opportunity to interact with MIT experts who work at the International Space Station.

Students have been requested to design an object or activity to be used in the International Space Station to improve the human experience away from Earth. They could choose the area that is most interesting to them - food, sports, or art. Our secondary students used the resources provided on the Global Campus website (https://globalcampus.nae.school/).

 

As the students worked on the challenge, they could send questions about life in space to the MIT expert, Ariel Ekblaw. Over 2000 questions were submitted by Nord Anglia students all over the world. At the end of the term, our students submitted their projects on the global campus website. Helena and Chiara from year 8A created a device called “hydrowave machine”  to hydrate astronauts' food as they believe astronauts should also have tasty food. Carmel from year 7B, whose project is related to art, had the idea of creating a box of oxygen and storing paint in capsules in order to keep the properties of the paint so that astronauts can make art in space.
