Careers Week @ BCB.

Careers Week @ BCB. As we approach the end of the academic year the Secondary team is busy organising the last week of term which is always a strange end in any international school i have worked in. The reports have been published with students receiving their end of year attitude to learning, attainment and comments whilst the tutor who has been mentoring each child for the year shares a comment for the year. So with the last of 3 reports published through iSams what should we do......?

The last week of term at BCB will focus on careers and specifically getting students to start thinking about what lies after Secondary School and what they need to do whilst they are at BCB. Choosing the right career path is both daunting and exciting but with the right support students who leave in year 13 will be looking forward to entering the University of their choice. BCB students this year have received offers from Universities such as Edinburgh, Toronto and Florida amongst many many other top institutions. This shows both the experience and process has been a successful one.

Careers week will start with all BCB Secondary students thinking about what lies after BCB and many things are going to happen to support that process. We will be launching Unifrog which we have a partnership with, a superb platform that allows access through a smartphone or computer looking at aptitudes, interests, activities and crucially what Universities are looking for and how we get students to these Universities. Unifrog has recently integrated CommonAPP which deals with students looking to go to the U.S and Europe. This is a really exciting development for our students, teachers and parents. During this week will be relaunching our partnership with Daqui Pra Fora who have successfully guided our students in both the American and Brazilian University markets this academic year.

We are also delighted to announce another partnership this time leveraging the size of Nord Anglia Education by partnering with our sister school The Metropolitan School in Panama City. A fellow IB School, they have been preparing students to go to the U.S for a number of years and they are very excited to be helping advise our students alongside Mr Jones our DP Coordinator who will continue to also guide students to the U.K and beyond! This will be launched during careers week with the first information session to our secondary student community.

Finally, the home school partnership is paramount in the careers process and we are delighted that 7 of our parents have confirmed their attendance as keynote speakers talking to our students about Secondary School and the process they experienced in getting to University and their career beyond. We are very much looking forward to listening to and answering questions. We are looking forward to hearing from Artists to Engineers, Journalists to Lawyers!
