It is that time of year when Primary students in Year 6 look forward to transitioning into Secondary with students moving from both the CF and CJ Primary to a vastly different and strange new world …….or is it?
Core to everything we do in Secondary is exactly the same in Primary. Learning behaviours are paramount when approaching our learning whether we are a student, a teacher or even a parent. If we are to be successful lifelong learners then we need to be conscious of what behaviours are useful when tackling something new, either a new concept to understand or learning a new skill. In Secondary, students can earn house points for either the Lions, Tigers, Jaguars or Panthers all four being very familiar for Primary students.
So, The Learner League from left to right………
Incredible Inquirer makes a direct link to one of the 10 IB Learner Profile Attributes and is all about questioning anything and being open minded in finding the answers (also an IB Learner Profile attribute).
Grit Man is someone who compliments the four other superheroes from the Learner League and grit is a refusal to give up when things don’t go our way. We have just lived through two years of needing grit!
The Risker is able to be a Risk Taker in any situation, often we learn in new contexts and have to tackle something that is new and often uncomfortable but having a go means you are halfway there!
Captain Communicator is the master of being able to connect with others in whatever form or means necessary to share ideas or attitudes which are needed for a peaceful world. The world at the moment is calling Captain Communicator!
Reflective Star perhaps holds the most powerful of virtues which is the ability to reflect not just after a conversation or event in our lives but during and even before, which is central to a lifelong IB Learner.
Which 5 of the 10 IB Learner Profile Attributes are we missing and can you think of any superheroes who could join the Learner League?
