Ms. Slough has been teaching for 9 years, including 3 years as a librarian in a high-performing high school in a suburb of Houston, Texas. She has a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Texas at Austin in International Relations and Global Studies, and a Master's in Library Science from the University of North Texas. After finishing her undergraduate degree, she taught English as a Foreign Language in Madrid, Spain and Daegu, South Korea in local schools before returning to the United States to pursue a teaching certification in Social Studies, which she taught for 3 years before becoming a librarian.

In her role as librarian, Ms. Slough has been involved with both professional and cross-library collaborations in the promotion of literacy and the library. Through these collaborations, she has grown her library program to include more unique lessons with staff such as the creation of research project websites and murder mystery games. Ms. Slough enjoys reading and traveling, and the occasional video game if she has enough time.
