A glimpse at the portfolio of up and coming creative talent at STA.
The winner of the Photography category in the recent House Art competition was Tialf Schoettle in Year 9. Tialf has had an interest in photography for some years and has a talent for ‘capturing the moment’. His photograph titled ‘The Throne’, taken in his home country Germany, is of a simple wooden throne placed at the edge of the sea. The tide has receded leaving a myriad of puddles around it. Tialf uses the muted colours to suggest the loneliness of this deserted landscape. As a genre, Tialf also enjoys portraiture, with his ‘portrait of a hill tribe man’ being one of his personal favourites. His talents are not limited to photography, as Tialf is also an accomplished draughtsman, as we can see in his surrealist composition above and below.
This year's FOBISIA Primary Poetry Competition invited students in Key Stage 2 to write poems around the theme 'Where I Go'. They could interpret this in any way they wished. There were two categories: Years 3&4 and Years 5&6.
Year 2 students opened the morning by performing some fantastic songs capturing the spirit of the Expo. They showed their parents all they have learnt about the tropical minibeasts that live around us.
All of this wonderful activity is gradually building momentum for the Summer Art Festival, which will culminate in a showcase of music, dance and drama in the theatre on Wednesday 14th June.
