Year 12 student, Manon, reflects on this past weekend's Model United Nations (MUN) conference held at Regents International School Pattaya.
On the 2nd of March, ten students from St Andrews attended the annual Model United Nations (MUN) at Regents International School Pattaya (RISP). Students spent the day discussing current affairs, ranging from the question of plastic pollution in the ocean, legalization of gay marriage, to illicit drug trafficking.
The hard work of the St Andrews delegates paid off. At the end of the day’s debates, our team was awarded several certificates: three students won ‘best delegate’. A touch of humour was added with one student receiving ‘best dressed’, two voted ‘funniest delegate’ and -- one delegate even received the dubious distinction of ‘most likely to start a war’.
This conference was also the first time some people took part in MUN. This is what Taiyo, a first time MUNer, had to say: “This was my first time attending MUN, and it was astonishing. I had a great time meeting new people to discuss global issues. This experience has persuaded me to go to more conferences. In my opinion, MUN can help you to become a better critical thinker and helps you to be more aware of global issues.”
Do you want to meet new people, improve your speaking skills, gain more confidence, and improve your awareness of the world we live in? Then MUN might be just the right thing for you!

Congratulations to Angelina, Melodie, Riddhi and Seymur, who achieved the best marks in Thailand in their IGCSE courses at St Andrews International School Bangkok!
To help you better understand how to sign up for St Andrews after school activities, this step by step guide helps students or their parents sign up for ECAs and Sports/Swimming squads via Moodle. This is done once a term, with dates announced via email and the newsletter.
