On Thursday 21 March Year 13 Artists impressed us with their diverse creativity.
On Thursday 21 March the annual IB Visual Arts exhibition opened its doors at St Andrews International School Bangkok. The exhibition, named “Unrestrained” after Gung Ging Nirandara’s beautiful thread and acrylic artwork, was extremely impressive. The group comprised of 13 students and the exhibition brought together a diverse range of types of art from the classical figurative approach of Emma Gille to the political street art style of Nabil Aditya Irfan. Visitors commented on the strength of the work on display, noting that it was not only skillfully executed, but conceptually engaging. Working across a number of media, some work challenged the audience with issues of body image and societal values, whilst other pieces were intimate or celebratory, such as China Assavanitchakorn’s colourful acrylic paintings. The exhibition certainly has work for all tastes and we would like to congratulate the students on the excellent standard of their work. By popular demand the exhibition has been extended and will stay open until Wednesday 27 March.
This week’s ‘Artist of the Week’ is Year 11 student New Sriwiboonrattana, nominated for her excellent painting, which is her entry for the Nord Anglia Visual Arts competition. The painting represents the theme of ‘Strong Institutions’ cleverly using symbolism to communicate subtle and complex ideas. We wish her good luck in the competition.
Congratulations to Angelina, Melodie, Riddhi and Seymur, who achieved the best marks in Thailand in their IGCSE courses at St Andrews International School Bangkok!
