High School

It's Residential Week!

At 7am this morning, Year 9X left for Kanchanaburi - our first Residential buses to leave the High School for three years.

Residential Week is a very important part of the High School curriculum, with all Year Groups enjoying a wide range of activities and opportunities for personal and social development and to build relationships with both their peers and their teachers, and it was great to see the excitement among the students as they arrived at, and then left, school this morning.

As well as the 500 students on five different Residentials this week and over 200 students on another three Residentials next week, our Year 11 and 13 students will be sitting their Mock Exams, learning a huge amount about the topics and types of questions that they need to work more on over the news few months, before their final (I)GCSE / IB Diploma Programme exams in Term 3.

Last week, two Year 11 Maths classes received their IGCSE Maths results, after taking their IGCSE Maths exam in October.

Their results were excellent, with all of the students achieving either an A* or an A grade. Congratulations to them all, and to all their Maths teachers who have worked with them over the years. The students will now focus on preparing for their Further Pure Maths - an excellent preparation for the challenges of IBDP Maths - exams in Term 3.

Congratulations also to Abi, Captain, Mina, Rhea and Sanjana in Year 13, who have all received offers from all of the UK university courses that they applied to through UCAS. We submit applications early at St Andrews Bangkok, so these offers were submitted well in advance of the 25th January UCAS deadline.

As you can see below, students in Year 13 have already received 132 offers and acceptances from 89 different universities in 13 different countries, and we look forward to sharing more updates for the Class of 2023 in future weeks.

Finally, congratulations to our VEX IQ teams, and to all the teachers and other staff who worked so hard to run the VEX IQ Thailand National Championships, that we hosted at St Andrews on Saturday.

Altogether 40 teams from 16 schools all over Thailand battled it out in the Atrium, with Grace, Nana, and Keane (Flashing Disc) winning the Judges Award and Ari, Krit, Justin and Panther (VEXcellent) winning the Inspire Award.

We will find out soon whether either of these teams qualified for the World Championships, to be held in Dallas, Texas later this year…
