Preparing for carnival - Samba season. In the music curriculum, we cover a wide range of topics, to ensure that we develop an understanding of how music from all areas of the world can influence each other. Screen Shot 20190205 at 104904

In year 7 one of the topics is samba. Students learn about Brazilian carnival and what a typical samba batucada piece sounds like. They then use this knowledge to create their own samba performances. Each samba band competes in class to be chosen to perform in an assembly all about carnival. The preparations for this are well underway and year 7s are enjoying the chance to make loads of noise with the samba instruments.

Expressive Arts Week 31/05 - 03/06
What an amazing week we had! Artistic interventions during breaks and lunchtime, giving opportunity for everyone to enjoy and appreciate different musical genres, ensemble and dance performances and visual arts works. We were able to see children interacting with these video and audio interventions by copying dance moves, singing along, and showing themselves completely amazed with people drawing and painting.
