BCB Weekly Newsletter (11th of September 2020) Dear Parents, Strong relationships between home and school are the most important way to positively engage and triangulate information between you, the teacher, your child and their learning. I believe that at times like now, these relationships are getting stronger. Contact between student and teacher are closer and more frequent through the screen, and I know parents are more actively involved in their child’s learning supporting at home and contact between teacher and parent often increased to support your child, technically and educationally.

Dear Parents,

Strong relationships between home and school are the most important way to positively engage and triangulate information between you, the teacher, your child and their learning. I believe that at times like now, these relationships are getting stronger. Contact between student and teacher are closer and more frequent through the screen, and I know parents are more actively involved in their child’s learning supporting at home and contact between teacher and parent often increased to support your child, technically and educationally.

Links between families and school, sharing of information, orgnisation of events or charity support, is a highly effective way of building and developing a community. Keeping us together as one family needs continuous support and understanding for the huge benefit to all. This is where a Parent and Teacher Association (PTA) is so valuable and why it is important we are all invested in this together. You are all by default, members of our PTA. You can contribute as much as you wish, and we hope you do, and so as the new year develops, we wanted to make sure everyone understands the role of our PTA, who they are, and how to contact them. Below see how you are part of this membership:

As a PTA, you will also now have a dedicated area on the school website where you can see who our executive team members are, what events have taken place and as this area grows, information on charities and upcoming events for you to be part of. Click this link to explore the early site. There is also a dedicated email address to formalise communications. We know we will never replace WhatsApp but as a school we want to have a more professional communication platform via email. If you want to ask any questions then please do send them to pta-bcb@britishcollegebrazil.org and one of the executive committee members can respond. They can also reach year group reps and classes by this means too, we hope you find this useful.

The slide below clearly shows the PTA structure, and we need to thank the PTA for these images as they come from a presentation prepared earlier in the year, which we will update and add to the website soon. I must sincerely thank the following parents, some who are on the executive committee and others who are currently supporting and potentially filling the vacant roles, but all who have welcomed me to Brazil and shared all the wonderful things already established in your community. With these developments we hope to be even stronger. My heartfelt thanks go to Juliana Nogueira Passos, Josimari Afonso, Carla Gil Pereira, Tarsila Segalla Afanasieff and Juliana Penna De Zagottis and also to you, all our parents, all members of our PTA.

Have a wonderful weekend!
