BCB Weekly Newsletter (16th of October 2020) Dear Parents, Welcome back after what I hope was a fantastic break for everyone and at least an opportunity was taken for some rest and relaxation. Mrs. West and I headed to Santos and Guaruja and for me the highlight was visiting the home of Pele, learning more about him at the museum and seeing all the recognition he received for his contributions, to sport of course, but also other notable things he did to contribute to society. This is what we aim for all our students, your children, that they become future leaders and also contribute to the wider world as responsible global citizens.

Dear Parents,

Welcome back after what I hope was a fantastic break for everyone and at least an opportunity was taken for some rest and relaxation. Mrs. West and I headed to Santos and Guaruja and for me the highlight was visiting the home of Pele, learning more about him at the museum and seeing all the recognition he received for his contributions, to sport of course, but also other notable things he did to contribute to society. This is what we aim for all our students, your children, that they become future leaders and also contribute to the wider world as responsible global citizens.

This week I got the absolute privilege of meeting students, and some of you as you dropped off your children, and what a privilege. I have heard how wonderful our students are, how kind, compassionate and genuine they are, and I have now seen some of this for myself. Such politeness was displayed and of course enormous enjoyment. Your children were wearing face masks but the glow in their eyes made it easy to see they were smiling. Like you I am sure, we are hoping that the percentage allowed on campus will increase in November and we will be allowed back to teach fully in school. We are all ready and waiting for that moment. For now, we must enjoy these opportunities to meet our classmates and year group, judging by the reaction as the children entered and left, these are definitely moments to remember in this difficult year.

 

My heartfelt appreciation goes to our operational and admin staff who over the past few months have been preparing for the day children are back in school. Without them it is just an empty building with no soul, now it has some life back, thank you. Thanks, should also go to all our teaching staff who have supported your children during this 20% voluntary extracurricular opportunity and particularly to Miss Davis and Mr Holman who have taken the secondary classes so that online learning for all subjects in the other year groups can continue undisturbed. Timetabling is exceptionally complicated, so this allowed a smooth process in secondary.

Thursday, the first day of our in-school activities, was also seemingly appropriately, Teacher’s Day. On behalf of all our teaching staff I would like to thank you for the wonderful gift baskets that our teaching staff received, they are all extremely grateful to this gesture and recognition of their efforts throughout the year with your children. Teaching is such an invested career, so much care and effort given to supporting children and giving each and every one of them the best opportunities they can. Our staff are relentless in this pursuit and it is wonderful to get the opportunity to say thank you and recognise them.
