BCB Weekly Newsletter (27th of November 2020)

BCB Weekly Newsletter (27th of November 2020) Dear Parents, Each year all Nord Anglia schools around the globe survey their parents to gain valuable feedback. As a new Principal this is a fantastic opportunity to gain your views in a completely anonymous way. For a school and community to work as well as we can together, we need valuable feedback. For example, we may think we are communicating effectively but that may not be your perception. If we don’t talk to each other honestly and openly, then we might be targeting our communications in the wrong way. This is just one very simple example, and I do hope that you have felt communication has improved since I started at the school. However, I am always open for things to improve.

Dear Parents,

Each year all Nord Anglia schools around the globe survey their parents to gain valuable feedback.

As parents you will have many thoughts about the school, and this has been a particularly difficult year with the pandemic, but please do give fair and honest feedback to us and consider carefully the virtual school experience your children have enjoyed. School has not been fully open since March, so it is hard to recall how it was earlier in the year but do consider everything.

Within the survey, there are many areas covered, which do include benchmarks for comparison of BCB with the region and globally. These areas include:

•           School Overview

•           Educational Opportunities

•           Teaching

•           Social and Personal Development

•           Communication

•           Facilities and Services

•           New Starters

•           Visão Geral da Escola

•           Oportunidades Educacionais

•           Ensino

•           Desenvolvimento Social e Pessoal

•           Comunicação

•           Instalações e Serviços

•           Novos Iniciantes

Last year the response rate was only 42% and I believe for a true analysis of what the whole community feels, this needs to be much closer to 70%, if not higher. Your participation is therefore highly encouraged. There are spaces for free comment and the survey is available in most languages, you just click on this as you start the survey.

One key indicator that I do need to explain is the NPS or Net Promoter Score. You are asked if you would recommend the school on a scale of 1-10. I would always look at a scale like this and think that 6 was more positive than 5, 5 being an average score. However, this scale does not quite work like this. If you were to put a slightly positive 6, this would be classed as a detractor. Detractors are 0-6, passives are 7-8 and only 9-10 are truly promoters of the school, those that would recommend to a friend. This is not to sway your score but to make you aware that it is only the very top end, which is considered promoting, whilst 0-6 are all detracting, i.e. not recommending to your friends.

The survey will be launched very soon, and you have until the end of January to complete it but in my experience, it is easier to do it straight away. I will send reminders on our progress and encourage that percentage response to increase. We as a school will truly value this feedback, and in the following months feedback to you on this and what our response and action plan will be.

Have a great weekend!
