Dear Parents,

2021 marks the year of BCB’s first graduating students. This is a landmark moment for any school and especially for us as we are completing it during a pandemic. This has given us extra challenges but just further illustrates the qualities that an IB school, and IB students, have.

It is also a significant year as BCB will enter into its tenth year of opening in the next academic year, so much to look forward to and celebrate.

Anything that is a first is an exploration, a journey of discovery. For the school we have many experienced staff who have done this before, Mr. Holman and me both steering cohorts to their first graduation in the past. For parents, it is most definitely a first.

Will my child be able to cope with the academics? Will my child gain the guidance they need? Will my child get the results to go to a university of their choice? Will my child be a good person? Will my child be able to confidently live and study overseas? These are just some of the question’s parents will ask, worries they will have, they have invested and trusted in the school, they need it to be a success.

Mr. Holman and Mr. Jones, our Head of Secondary and IBDP Coordinators respectively, have always maintained that the children will do as well as they can, they will get out what they put into it. Effort is rewarded. We have the structures for success and our excellent guidance and teaching, particularly during this online period, has been nothing short of outstanding.

Our first graduating students are set up ready for their futures. They still have some exams to go, and still some IB points to score, but they have some incredible university offers that we are extremely proud of, as are they.

From our 8 graduating students we have 31 offers so far with so many from top universities around the world. 5 of these offers are from the UK top 20, Durham, Bristol, Leeds, Warwick and Edinburgh. 1 from the top ranked university in Canada, University of Toronto. 4 are from the top 50 list in the USA including Boston, Florida, California Davis and Rutgers. These are really special universities and wonderful offers.

Our BCB graduates will have so much choice and will hopefully achieve the destination of their choice. There is still a lot of effort required, extra study, lots of sleep, and a real dedication to do well. If they continue like this they will reach their dreams and we will look forward to tracking our alumni around the world in the near future.

For now, let’s celebrate these amazing offers. We met the PTA yesterday and are planning a fantastic graduation for our students and their families. Such great news!

Have a wonderful weekend.
